Who is Bayou Rescue?

Bayou Rescue is a non-profit organization that was initially formed in response to the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Bayou Rescue supports the animal rescue efforts of existing animal welfare organizations located in disaster areas, or that set up temporary shelter operations to care for displaced pets in emergencies. Our mission is accomplished by:

1) Providing volunteer teams to emergency
rescue/shelter sites in disaster areas

2) Collecting and transporting emergency supplies needed
to rescue and care for animals after a disaster

3) Transporting animals to safe foster and adoptive homes,
or to reunite pets with their people when possible

The mission of Bayou Rescue depends on a group of Response Team members that pledge to volunteer in times of disaster by working on-site in disaster areas, providing transportation of animals, covering travel costs to deploy volunteer teams, collecting donations of supplies requested for emergency shelters, and providing safe and loving foster homes. Of course, the Response Team efforts depend solely on contributions to get the job done, wherever and whenever it is needed most.
